Areas of interest: Advanced laparoscopic surgery (Benign upper GI, biliary surgery and hernia surgery). Laparoscopic surgery in the emergency setting. Complex hernia surgery/abdominal wall reconstruction.

Background Information: Mr. Light qualified from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2005. He then underwent surgical training was in the North East of England. He undertook a period of further training after CCT in Edinburgh (focusing on complex hernia surgery). He commenced as a Consultant Surgeon in the Northumbria NHS Trust in 2018.

Research Interests: Hernia surgery, laparoscopic surgery

Other Interests: I have an interest in post-graduate surgical education and hernia surgery. I am the membership and web-page secretary of the British Hernia Society. Author and editor for the NUGITS website.
