Background Information: I completed my higher surgical training in the northern deanery and I was fortunate to be appointed to the post of consultant surgeon at the Northumbria Healthcare NHS FT with a special interest in benign upper GI, laparoscopic, and bariatric surgery.

My current scope of NHS practice includes: Elective theatre lists, upper GI / bariatric / general clinics, upper GI cancer / bariatric/ complex abdominal wall hernia MDT meetings, as well as on-call and emergency surgery duties.

I developed my practice in oesophageal physiology; I’ve completed the high resolution manometry, impedance and 24-hour pH monitoring course in the Netherlands and I’m now responsible for oesophageal physiology analysis and reporting at our hospital.

Research Interests: Sunflower study; a national RCT to investigate the yield of preoperative MRCP in patients with a low to intermediate risk of CBD stones.
